Redirections Settings in CranSEO #
Managing redirects is essential for maintaining SEO rankings and preventing broken links. CranSEO provides a powerful Redirections Manager to help you set up and manage URL redirects efficiently.
Step 1: Access the Redirections Manager #
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to CranSEO > Redirections.
- Click Enable Redirections if it is not already enabled.
Step 2: Create a New Redirect #
- Click Add New Redirect.
- Enter the Source URL (the old or broken URL).
- Enter the Target URL (the new destination URL).
- Choose the Redirect Type:
- 301 Permanent (Recommended for SEO)
- 302 Temporary (For temporary changes)
- 307 Temporary Redirect
- Click Save Redirect.
Step 3: Manage Existing Redirects #
- View a list of all active redirects.
- Edit or Remove existing redirects as needed.
- Use the Bulk Actions feature to update multiple redirects at once.
Step 4: Monitor 404 Errors & Redirect Them #
- Navigate to CranSEO > Redirections > 404 Logs.
- View a list of detected 404 error pages.
- Click Fix Now to create a redirect for any broken URLs.
Step 5: Import & Export Redirects #
- Import existing redirects from other SEO plugins (Yoast, Rank Math, etc.).
- Export your redirect settings for backup or migration purposes.
Step 6: Best Practices for SEO-Friendly Redirections #
- Always use 301 redirects for permanent URL changes.
- Avoid redirect chains (multiple redirects leading to another redirect).
- Regularly check 404 error logs and set up necessary redirects.
