How to Import Data from Other SEO Tools into CranSEO #
If you are migrating from Yoast SEO, Rank Math, or other SEO plugins, CranSEO makes it easy to import your existing SEO settings and metadata. Follow this guide to ensure a smooth transition.
Step 1: Install and Activate CranSEO #
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
- Go to Plugins > Add New.
- Click Upload Plugin, select the CranSEO
.zip
file, and click Install Now. - Activate the plugin after installation.
Step 2: Open the CranSEO Import Tool #
- Navigate to CranSEO > Tools > Import & Export.
- Locate the Import Data section.
Step 3: Choose Your Previous SEO Plugin #
- Select the SEO plugin you were using (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, AIOSEO, etc.).
- Click Analyze Data to scan your site for available SEO settings, including:
- Meta titles & descriptions
- Focus keywords
- Redirects
- Schema settings
- XML sitemaps
Step 4: Start the Import Process #
- Review the scanned data and select the elements you want to import.
- Click Import Data to transfer the settings to CranSEO.
- Wait for the process to complete, then check the success message.
Step 5: Verify Imported SEO Settings #
- Navigate to CranSEO > Titles & Meta to confirm that your metadata has been imported correctly.
- Check your XML sitemap under CranSEO > Sitemap to ensure it is properly configured.
- Review any redirects under CranSEO > Redirections.
Step 6: Deactivate the Old SEO Plugin (Optional) #
- Once you’ve confirmed a successful import, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
- Locate the old SEO plugin (Yoast, Rank Math, etc.) and click Deactivate.
- If everything works fine, you can delete the old plugin to prevent conflicts.
Troubleshooting #
- If the import fails, ensure that the old plugin is still active during the import process.
- Clear your website cache and try again.
